Watch New Bendable Concrete more resistant and more durable
New concrete has been developed to reduce the time required for roadwork. This innovation allows for the creation of thin prefabricated paver slabs for rapid installation, halving the time required for road works and new roadways. It is also more durable. The innovation also allows the production of slabs of thin prefabricated building blocks, which increases the speed of installation. It should be used in infrastructure projects.
the new type of concrete called ConFlexPave, developed by Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) the concrete is more resistant and more durable than ordinary concrete, heavy, fragile and brittle under tension.
The addition of synthetic fibers in ConFlexPave solves this problem by allowing the concrete to flex and bend under tension. The resulting product has also demonstrated increased skid resistance.
How foldable concrete works:
ConFlexPave is specifically designed for certain types of hard materials to be mixed with polymer microfibers. The inclusion of these special synthetic fibers, in addition to allowing the concrete to flex and bend under tension, also improves skid resistance.
Typical concrete includes cement, water, gravel and sand. Although this mix makes the concrete hard and strong, it does not promote flexibility. Thus, the concrete is fragile and prone to cracks if too much weight is applied.
